Patch Management Changes

We have recently updated our patch management settings. This is for all computers that are monitored through our systems, for our contracted customers. Systems not being monitored, the users should “restart” them on a weekly basis. We will continue to manually apply the server updates, to not interrupt business activity with those customers.

Microsoft usually releases their monthly security updates on the second Tuesday of each month. System updates are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday’s at 3:00am. each week. So leave your computer on overnight, on Tuesday , for updates to complete without being interrupted. Your computer will restart to complete the updates. If it is missing any previously released updates, it will attempt those during the scheduled time. Regardless of when they were originally released.

If you computer is not on during this time, it will now automatically run the updates the next time it is turned on. So you may be prompted that a restart is going to occur. Close all open programs and let the process complete. We have found that too many updates are getting missed and computers are not properly restarted for too long.

Please let us know if you run into any issues with these changes.
